Red Stick R/C Flying Club Membership Policy Revised December 2002 The Red Stick R/C Club encourages membership in our organization for any persons with an interest in the construction or operation of radio controlled model aircraft. The information following sets forth our membership policy and dues requirements. Who may join? Membership is open to anyone with an interest in construction or operation of RC controlled model aircraft. There is no age limit nor requirement that a member own or be able to operate an RC aircraft in order to join. There may be requirements to meet for solo flight privileges which do not apply to membership privileges. Membership Limit There is no limit on membership at this time. Our current membership ranges from 90 to 130. If overcrowding of the field is experienced, a membership limit may be imposed. Sponsorship Requirement New member applicants are required to be "sponsored" by a current member of the Club. The best way to get a sponsor is to visit the field a few times and get acquainted with some of the members. Let them know of your interest in joining. You should have no trouble finding a sponsor. The Club reserves the right to limit membership to persons of good character, who are financially responsible, who will support safe flight operations, and who will be compatible with the current membership. The sponsor, in recommending a new member, is certifying to the Club, that the sponsor believes the applicant meets our requirements and expectations. The sponsor will help explain field operating rules and field etiquette and generally ease your entry into the Club. AMA Membership Requirement All applicants for membership must have a current membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Our Club is an AMA chartered club. Our charter requires individual AMA membership of each Club member. The lease on the field also requires AMA membership for each person flying there. Membership Classes Regular Member - Any person, 19 years or older as of July 1 and who is not classed as a Dependent Member. Regular Members have full voting privileges and full access to field facilities. Dependent Member - Any person who is a dependent of a financially current Member, or the spouse of same. Junior Members must have written permission of their parent or legal guardian to operate R/C aircraft at the field. Junior Members have full voting privileges and restricted access* to field facilities. *Restricted Access means that at least one Regular Member must be present to act as Field Safety Officer. Dues & Fees Member - Dues are $100 per year. The initiation fee for new Regular Members is $20. The reinstatement fee for financially delinquent Regular Members is $20. Dependent Member - No dues or initiation fee. Junior Member - Dues are $20 per year. The initiation fee for new Junior Members is $5. Prospective members who already have an R/C aircraft are encouraged to bring it along and fly with us as a guest for two or three times for the purpose of getting acquainted with the members and deciding if there is a real interest in joining our Club. This is a good way to meet a sponsor as well.
